Seashore foraging walk
Seashore Foraging / Wild food walks
Foraging is a popular activity these days, the objective of this experience is to learn about wild foods on the shore line.
These practical sessions walks starting and finishing at Shieldaig Lodge and are 1 ½ hours in length. Walk times will vary depending on weather conditions, the season and tide times.
Find a plethora of shellfish – limpets, mussels, winkles and a variety of edible seaweeds and seashore plants. Enjoy learning about what to gather and how to gather it.
We will collect wild sea plants, seaweeds and shellfish with the aim of cooking what we gather.
Cory Jones our expert guide had been eating and foraging wild plants for over 30 years and will give you tips on what and what not to collect, best times of year and where to look. Cory will teach you how to safely identify, pick and prepare your harvest with confidence. Depending on the season, we might find shellfish, crabs and more.
At the end of the session we will cook what we have found (if you would like) to taste the delights of the sea!
