Terrain: Some tracks, but mainly rough stalkers tracks and some boggy areas. Birchwoods and moorland.
Time: 2 hours
Distance: 6km / 3.75 miles
Equipment: Waterproofs and good footwear.
The route begins and ends near the Shieldaig Lodge Hotel and follows a well-worn path. There are great views back over Loch Gairloch to the surrounding Torridon mountain, dominated by Baosbheinn (‘The Wizard’s Mountain’). Discover the habitats of birchwood, moorland, beautiful small lochs with plenty of local wildlife to see.
An important destination of this walk is a memorial marking the site of a fatal air-crash from a WWII Liberator crash bomber site . The site is left unspoilt and still has a propeller and various plane parts in situ.
Depending on ground conditions we can return by the same route or make this a circular walk. Experienced local guides. Your safety is our priority.
Trips are weather dependent and if it not safe to walk a full refund will be given.
